The lintel is another building member with a very simple purpose; to carry
the load of the wall above it.
A lintel can be as ordinary or as grand as the architect wishes. From spanning a simple window opening to spanning openings between
columns, the lintel can be smooth, flat and inconspicuous or adorned with
the relief of any characteristics desired.
